    University of Kota
  • University has nearly 163 affiliated colleges situated within the territorial jurisdiction covering six districts of Rajasthan. Out of which 30 Colleges are P.G. level and these are imparting education in faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Social Sciences, education, etc.
  • University is conducting examinations of more than 1.50 lac educative students in the current session.
  • Admission to Professional Courses to the affiliated colleges such as B.B.A., B.C.A., B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, etc. is given through centralized admission counseling (CAC) conducted by the University so as to check, control and discourage the possible unfair practice of private colleges during admission. The prospectus of the session 2011-12 is being enclosed with (Annexure-11).
  • University has one unit of NSS.
  • University is regularly organising inter Collegiate sports tournaments for its affiliating Colleges. During 2011-12, total 28 inter-collegiate events were organized at University/ Affiliated Colleges. In 23 out of 28 events, the university team has also participated.
  • University is regularly participating in West zone Inter University sports tournament organized by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • The university has won the ALL-INDIA INTER UNIVERSITY GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP OF WOMEN-JUDO of 2010-11.
  • A student of our university namely Ms. Gagan Deep Kaur has won the GOLD MEDAL of 63 kg group and open group in All-India Inter University General Championship and creates a history at Pune University, Pune.
  • In same event, our university students namely ALL-INDIA INTER UNIVERSITY GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP have won the BRONZE MEDAL in 52 kg and 48 kg group, respectively. 
  • The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of our university has awarded a cash prize of Rs. 51,000/- to Ms. Gagan Deep Kaur and Rs. 11,000/- to Ms. Rakha Rathod and Ms. Monika Galav each on the Republic Day of 2012.
  • University of Kota had also organized the All India Inter University, West Zone Kabaddi tournament from 28th Oct. to Nov. 1st , 2007 in which 40 universities participated.
  • The University Football team qualified for All India Inter Zone Football tournament for the session 2009-10 held at Bharatyar University, Coimbatoor.

  • At least one student of every session from the very beginning, i.e. 2007-08, of M.Sc. (Physics-Energy) is being selected for the six week summer training in physics at Indira Gandhi Centre of Atomic Research, Kalpakkam on open selection basis. It is to mention that only 20 students through the India are being selected for the training every year. The students of M.Sc. (Physics-Energy) have been carried out their six week summer training from Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, Institute of Plasma Physics, Gandhinagar, Rawatbhata Atomic Power Station, Rawatbhata, Kota Super Thermal Power Station, Kota, Instrument Limited, Kota, Shriram Fertilizers & Chemicals, Kota, etc.
  • Dr. N. L. Heda, Assistant Professor of Physics has performed the experiment entitled “Origin of Magnetism in Multiferroic Materials using Magnetic Compton Scattering” at Super Photon ring of 8 GeV (SPring-8), Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI), Hyogo (JAPAN) in February 2009. The whole financial expenses, Rs. 89,232/- (Rupees eighty nine thousand two hundred thirty two only),  of Dr. Heda’s visit was undertaken by Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi       
  • Dr. J. P. Sharma is working as expert for Geographical Study Under Sida-Financed project (Linkopings University, Sweden) “Designing Climate-Smart Water Adaptation Strategies for Sustainable Urban Development: A study of Cochabamba, Bolivia and Kota, India”. Dr. Sharma has also delivered a lecture at Govt. P.G. College, Jhalawar on Application of GIS & Remote Sensing on January 23, 2012.
  • The MBA students of the university has visited various companies and institutions viz, Instrumentation Limited, DCM, CFCL, Thermal Power Plant, Mangalam Cement, Kota, HCL  zinc Udaipur, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, IDBI Bank, BSNL, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Juwari Investment, Barakha Securities etc. for summer training. A number of activities like power point presentation, business quiz, business chart, speech competition, Group discussion, extempore, speech, essay competition were conducted to develop personality of students and to inculcate the values of students by the Commerce & Management Department.   
  • The students of Jamnagar University, Jamnagar had visited the Social Sciences Department and interacted with the students of M.S.W. of the university during 2010-11.
  • The students of M.A./M.Sc. (Geography) have carried out a survey camp at Shivpura Colony, Kota during Dec. 2011.
  • The University Judo team won the 02 silver medals in all India Inter University Judo tournament held for the session 2007-08 & 2008-09 at Punjab University Chandigarh & Manipur University Manipur, respectively.
  • The University Wrestling team won the bronze medal in all India Inter University Wrestling tournament held for the session 2009-10 at C.C.S. University Meerut. The University Boxing team won the bronze medal in all India Inter University Boxing tournaments in the session 2005-06, held at J.N.V. University Jodhpur.
  • The students of M.B.A. course participated in State Level Management FEST UTKARSH-2009 organized by R.A. Podar Institute of Management, Jaipur and other FESTS organised by Pacific Institute of Management, Udaipur, F. M. S., Udaipur, etc. and won the prizes.
  • A student of first batch of M.Sc. Physics (Energy) course, Mr. Piyush Kumar Parashar, had given a ORAL PRESENTATION in 53rd Department of Atomic Energy Solid State Physics Symposium during December 16-20, 2008 at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai and received the M.Sc. Project Award-2008 of India. Mr. Parashar was conferred a GOLD MEDAL along with a cash prize of Rs. 1,000/. The Project work had been carried out at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam as summer training with a fellowship of Rs. 4,500/-.
  • The students of M.S.W. course were engaged to conduct a survey on Socio-Cultural Aspects of the Kanjars of Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts of Rajasthan under the collaboration of Universal Heritage, Mumbai. Similarly students have actively participated in certain social activities organised by various NGOs in and nearby Kota city.   
  • The University has 538 Ph.D. scholars and 208 research supervisors registered with it. It has awarded Ph.D. degree to 88 candidates. The University has conducted pre-entrance test for the admission to Ph.D. programme as per the Gazette notification of UGC (Minimum standard and Procedure for Awards of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) in the month of Feb. 2010 and the results of this test were declared on March 12, 2010 and course work programme was carried out for the research scholars. Further, the university has also conducted the pre-entrance test for the admission to various M.Phil. programmes of the university and affiliated colleges for the session 2010-11 and 2011-12 as per the Gazette notification of UGC (Minimum standard and Procedure for Awards of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree). Also, on the same lines the second entrance test for the admission to Ph.D. in various disciplines is also going to be held in the month of April 2012.
  • The University has its own publication (Scholarie) and two issues here been published.  Publication is an academic journal of the University. The journal contains number of articles contributed by eminent scholars.
  • Launching of the University website in year 2004 itself and being updated regularly. The address of the website is www.uok.ac.in.
  • Holding of first convocation of the University in the year 2006 i.e. within the three years of its establishment and the next convocation is proposed to be held in near future.
  • Established the Department of Physical Education within the two years of its establishment.
  • Revised and updated the syllabi of all U.G. and P.G. level courses on the lines of the U.G.C. model curriculum within 03 years of its establishment.
  • Results of the examinations are declared well in time as per academic calendar. University of Kota been retained ahead among than state universities in declaring examination results.
